Double Washbasins

Together through life, together in the bathroom - double washbasins simplify the daily routine, especially in the morning hours. If partners or children have to leave the house at the same time, more than one washing facility is needed, a double washbasin can help. Then two people can brush their teeth or wash at the same time.

What does double washbasin mean?

Two people can get ready at the same time at a double washbasin. There are two fittings, but not necessarily two bowls. We also offer double washbasins with one bowl. Which of the two options you choose is entirely up to you.

But there is a difference: With two bowls you need two drains, with one bowl one drain is sufficient. This is certainly an advantage if you want to switch from a single basin to a double washbasin without major renovation work.

As an alternative, you can mount two single basins next to each other. Then everyone has their own distinct area of activity. However, you also need two drains here.

Which fitting?

In general, a double washbasin offers you three options for installing the fitting:

• on the bowl
• next to the bowl
• on the wall

The version next to the bowl is fairly rare, but still possible. You need a double washbasin without tap holes and a vanity unit or countertop for mounting the fitting.

Various materials

Double washbasins are most frequently made of sanitary ceramic. Ceramic is robust and low maintenance, it has proven its worth in the bathroom. However, it is also a heavy material, especially double washbasins. You need solid anchoring in the wall. In many cases more than two screws are used to achieve this.

Glass fibre concrete, mineral casting or steel enamel are available as alternatives. Concrete offers an incomparable appearance. However, this is not everyone's cup of tea. These double washbasins are also no lighter than ceramic.

Mineral cast double washbasins offer the designer a wide range of design options. The surface is non-porous and smooth. It is easy to clean. For production, resins and ground natural stone are mixed together. The result is a material that is reminiscent of natural stone but is easier to shape and process.

Fine designs can be created with steel enamel. When it comes to robustness, they are hard to beat - after all, baths and shower trays are also made of this material. If you are looking for a double washbasin that is not so bulky, check it out here.

What width?

The narrowest double washbasins in the shop start at 100 cm. If you cannot do without a double washbasin in a small bathroom, you will have to consider this size. But of course it can also be much wider. Popular widths are, for example, 120 cm or 140 cm.
