Overhead showers promise a completely unique shower experience. They are usually extra large and proper rain showers. If you're looking for this type of overhead shower then you're in the right place at the Reuter online store.
We exclusively offer showers from top brand manufacturers and at fair prices which are often well below the manufacturer's recommended retail price. With this guide, we'll help you find the right overhead shower.
Before we start offering advice, we'd first like to introduce our brands. The main ones are Grohe and Hansgrohe, which are always at the forefront when it comes to fittings.
Steinberg, treos and Hansa also offer popular overhead showers. Axor, Dornbracht and Hoesch are pure luxury brands. Herzbach and Bossini also offer truly luxurious overhead showers.
Various types of assembly
Choose from an overhead shower that is wall or ceiling-mounted with a shower arm or built into the ceiling. In all three cases the water supply must be installed into the wall. Retrofitting in walls and ceilings requires a lot of effort and also opening the wall or ceiling.
If this sounds like too much work, you can install a shower system or shower panel. These feature an overhead shower and are often mounted directly onto the wall. A rail or panel is then visible but at least you still get the benefit of a rain shower.
What height to mount it?
Since the height of overhead showers is generally non-adjustable , you'll need to work out the mounting height beforehand. This is relatively simple if all shower users are a similar height. It's more difficult if taller and shorter people are sharing the same bathroom. You should work on the height of the tallest user so that they don't have to bend down.
The recommended distance between the head and shower is 20 to 30 centimetres. If this distance is too small you may not get the full rain effect. Too large a distance will increase energy consumption since the water cools too quickly before it lands on the body. This requires you to increase the water temperature.
