What Size do I Need?

In general, anyone can mount a mirror above the washbasin. However, there are certain things to consider:

• don't choose a bathroom mirror that is too small
• the mirror should not be much wider than the washbasin
• the top edge should be around two metres from the floor
• a mirror height of 80 to 90 cm is ideal

Small bathroom mirrors have different disadvantages. The smaller the mirror, the smaller the visible section. This is not exactly ideal for styling. Larger mirrors also make small rooms appear bigger.

For visual reasons, bathroom mirrors should not be much wider than the washbasin. For small hand washbasins in guest toilets, choose a narrow, taller mirror. For people of average height, the top edge should be around two metres from the floor or slightly higher.

An 80 to 90 cm high bathroom mirror will be suitable for most people. This means that the mirror should be hung 1.10 to 1.20 metres high.

If you are taller than two metres or on the shorter side, you should of course hang your bathroom mirror higher or lower to suit your height. For wheelchair users and other people who need to sit at the washbasin, different measurements apply.

What kind of lighting?

You'll find bathroom mirrors with or without lighting in our store. In the filter navigation above, you can choose different varieties under "Functions". This narrows down the choice to make it easier to find what you're looking for. With the illuminated bathroom mirrors, you can choose between:

• integrated lighting
• external mirror lighting

The benefit of a bathroom mirror with integrated lighting is obvious: you get a mirror with glare-free light that illuminates the entire face without leaving shadows. The disadvantage is that the mirror and technology come as a pair. If the lighting fails, you may have to replace the entire bathroom mirror.

Alternatively, you can opt for a mirror without lighting in your bathroom. The lighting for the mirror is acquired separately.

Let's go back briefly to bathroom mirrors with internal lighting. You have a wide range of light controls to choose from:

• dimmable via an external dimmer
• for room switch
• with on and off switch
• with sensor dimmer
• with push button dimmer
• with touch dimmer
• non-dimmable

Dimmable via an external dimmer means that the bathroom mirror light is dimmed via a separate light switch such as by the door or next to the mirror. These mirrors are turned on and off via the room switch.

Many bathroom mirrors have their own on and off switch. Some of them can also be dimmed, such as with a sensor dimmer, push button dimmer or touch dimmer.

What kind of lighting?

In our store you'll find illuminated bathroom mirrors with halogen bulbs, fluorescent lamps or LEDs. Energy-saving LED mirrors are without doubt the future. The lighting is firmly installed inside most LED mirrors. This may seem annoying, however you don't need to worry: LEDs will typically outlast the mirror because they are extremely long-lasting.

What Colour Lighting?

Lighting is usually available in three colours:

• Neutral white
• Daylight white
• Warm white

For applying make-up and styling, illuminated mirrors with daylight white light are ideal because they show up colours best. However, this blueish light can be quite dazzling and uncomfortable. Warm white light in contrast is a yellowy orange colour and far more pleasant. Neutral white light falls somewhere in between the two.

Bathroom mirrors with variable colour temperature are practical. You can adjust the lighting according to your needs and the time of day. This only works using special LEDs.

Additional extras

Bathroom mirrors with shelves or mirrors that do not fog up are common choices. Under Special Features, you can easily filter the bathroom mirrors to meet your criteria. For example, you can choose from heated mirrors or mirrors with a shelf.
