About mawa
They are called Eintopf (stew), Berliner Bratpfanne (Berlin frying pan) or Paul & Paula - and they are handmade creations of the mawa brand. Founded in 1977 by Martin Wallroth ("Ma Wa") as a one-man business in Berlin, mawa initially concentrated on designing and manufacturing high-quality home decor.
Over the years, more and more employees strengthened the company and in 1997, mawa moved outside the gates of Potsdam, to Langerwisch in Brandenburg. There, at the beginning of the 2000s, Wallroth ventured a major change in the product range: instead of home accessories, the focus of production was now on designer luminaires.
The first laurels for the creative luminaires were not long in coming: in 2001, the lighting manufacturer received the Design Award of the state of Brandenburg, followed by other design awards and the presentation of the "Ssymmank" and "Schliephacke" luminaires at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
