About Tom Dixon
Since 2002, the designer has been his own boss with "Tom Dixon - The Company". Its diverse design spectrum and the use of a wide range of materials such as metal, plastic, glass or even felt is striking. The luminaires cannot be assigned to any style, they are a healthy mix of different countries and eras.
With his CV, the designer Tom Dixon is virtually predestined to design such unusual luminaires: born in Tunisia, raised in London, English father and mother with French-Latvian roots.
Nothing in his life progressed in a linear fashion. Quite the opposite. In the Eighties, he was active in London's punk movement and also worked as a performance artist in a nightclub. It was there that he made his first pieces of furniture on stage in front of an audience.
With his lighting and furniture, Tom Dixon has become one of the biggest names in the industry. His works are in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris or the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. You can't get much better than that - at least for a designer.
