Ceiling Lighting - Safe & Beautiful

Lighting in the home has many tasks - the most important job for ceiling luminaires is general lighting. Good, bright light on the ceiling ensures that we can see well and move around safely. The ceiling light is usually positioned centrally as the main light source.

In addition to room lighting, ceiling luminaires are responsible for mood lighting, i.e. lighting that creates a cosy, inviting atmosphere. Ceiling floodlights that emit light upwards and sideways are very suitable for this purpose. Tip: If you like to immerse your living room, bedroom or bathroom in dimmed light in the evening, make sure that your new ceiling luminaire is dimmable.

Ceiling Lights, Three Various Kinds

Depending on whether a ceiling luminaire is installed on or in the ceiling, experts distinguish between surface-mounted ceiling lights and recessed ceiling lights. The more common variant is the surface-mounted luminaire, the luminaire body of which is mounted on the ceiling. Light and luminaire thus become decorative stylistic elements of the entire interior design.

The counterpart is the recessed ceiling light, in which the majority of the luminaire disappears into the ceiling. Its light output is usually flush with the ceiling. With recessed lights, it is not the luminaire but the light that is the central decorative element.

Also mounted on the ceiling, but not a ceiling luminaire in the narrower sense is the pendant light or suspended luminaire, the body of which is suspended from the ceiling by a cable or rail. Pendant lights and suspended luminaires we have reserved a separate category in the shop.

Ceiling lights are used everywhere in the house or outside. However, the various ceiling lamps are not equally suitable for every room. We have therefore put together a list of luminaires that are best suited for bedrooms, dining rooms or corridors. Nevertheless, you are of course free to install a dining room luminaire in the kitchen or living room. You only need to be cautious when installing outdoors or in the bathroom, where you can only use ceiling lights that can withstand moisture, i.e. at least IP44.
